Moving Photos

Check out Picasa for a few photos of the move -

Happy Anniversary

Hard to believe 3 years have gone by since I married my best friend and I have been blessed every day since.

I love you honey.

:-)

Lunch & Dinner

It is SO good to be eating 'real' food again instead of being on the go all the time.

Back in Business

After what seems like forever, I am once again sitting in front of our repaired computer. It's fixed! And at a cost just under half of what we paid for it initially. *grumble grumble* But, thankfully it was just the motherboard & nothing else.

We're still settling into our new apt. Little by little I'm getting through the boxes. I'm struggling with liking our new place... Though it's wonderful to have the additional living space and 2nd bedroom, in many ways, we lost space from our last apt. (And those of you who saw that one wonder how that's possible!) This apt has smaller or fewer cupboards, closets, shelves, towel racks, counter space, storage space... Frustrating. Since we moved in, we have already brought in an additional 7 pieces of furniture to make up the difference - and we have yet to get a computer desk.

In addition to the 'little' obstacles, our biggest challenge is that the apartments are not non-smoking. So our apt, while clean & freshly painted, has a dingy, well set-in stale smoke smell. It's HORRIBLE. It assaults you when you first enter, haunts you at night while trying to fall asleep, and lingers in your hair & clothes after you leave. I feel like - why bother doing laundry or showering -- the horrible smell just comes back. What's the point? :-P Our only hope is borrowing a friend's ozonator (sp?). My brother recently bought a used & heavily smoked-in minivan that the ozonator took the smell out of, so we are eager to try it on our apt.

Aside from all the apt challenges, we are greatly enjoying seeing so many familiar faces again. Matt is enjoying his new job so far. He thinks the learning curve will be doable, esp since his last job was similar. The hardest part, he believes, will be learning their complex tracking system in which he has to log every phone call, piece of mail, etc.

I still plan to provide a more detailed account of our trip out here, so stay tuned!

Computer Woes

All our stuff is moved in & the process went fairly smooth. We are now working on the settling in process... the process of finding a place for everything.

Our move-in did have its troubles... one of which was that the box with our computer in it was tripped over and seems to have broken our computer. AAURGH! Sooo the computer is currently in the shop getting the motherboard replaced. Once that is fixed they will be able to tell if there is yet more damage to repair. PRAY that will fix the problem. So in the meantime, we are without a computer & internet -- extremely frustrating since we use it for everything from studying to phone book lookup to bill paying. We really feel like our hands are tied.

It's great being back though. We are enjoying the time spent so far with friends & family. Tomorrow is my friend's bridal shower which Madison & I are hoping to attend.

Hopefully we'll be back online & back in touch with everyone soon!

We're Here!

We are officially New Yorkers again! Well actually we are nomads until later this week when we move into our new apartment in Fairport. We'll try to get a more thorough update on here once we have time and internet access, but for now we'll just say the trip was super long & tiring but otherwise uneventful. We're enjoying a few days break with our family before moving in. Many thanks for the prayers of traveling mercies!

Farewell Winston

A little less than 3 years ago, we welcomed Winston into our home as part of our family. We were newly married and at least for a while, he was our baby.

Due to our imminent move, tonight we said goodbye to Winston as he left us and went to his new home. He will remain in Nebraska when we move. He'll have a new family to love him, and new animal friend companions.

He's been a good cat. He's mischievous - we affectionately call him the 'orange terd' - but he can be mushy, too. He's got quite the personality. We've enjoyed the time he's spent in our family & we'll miss having him with us.

In the Crib

When I go in to get Madison from her crib, she's always in a different position. Rolling, twisting, scootching, pushing... I never know whether she'll be on her front or back or what corner.

Well today I went in & she was sitting up! That's the first time I've seen her get from a lying to a sitting position on her own. Next she'll be pulling herself up & trying to scale the crib walls... FREEEDOOOOMM!!

Still packing.... *grumble, grumble*

Baby & A Box

The story of my life anymore... From sunup to sundown, I'm either taking care of baby or filling a box. I can't wait til it's back to just baby.

I'm one week into my efforts at packing. We are down to 2 weeks until we head out of town to become New Yorkers once again. Part of me looks at my progress & thinks, "I'm doing great! I have plenty of time to finish the rest." And another part of me says, "WHAT?! That's ALL I've gotten done?! I'm never going to make it!!"
